I've had surgery three times at Aleris over the last few years, all with the same surgeon, so I believe at this point I can say this place is NOT recommended. The first time I went the attention was mostly fine, except that the surgeon didn't actually treat the problem. He just made a few cuts and called it a day. Of course a few months later the situation got worse, and I required a second surgery. The second time the surgeon did a better job, however the nurses were completely unattentive. I was supposed to leave about an hour after the operation, but the nurses never came. They just checked the other patients around me as they came and left. I had no way to call for them since I wasn't given a call button, and when I tried to wave at them they would look at me and walk away without saying anything. It was almost unreal. After waiting for several hours I noticed the entire staff were leaving since it was the end of the work day; a nurse finally noticed me and was surprised to see me still there. I asked what happened, and she literally said they forgot about me. I wish I was kidding. The third surgery was a week ago, for a different issue. Similar story: both the surgeon and nurses spent a minimal amount of time with me and would talk very little, whereas they were much more attentive with the patients around me, and had longer conversations. When I was about to leave I casually asked a nurse when should I remove a bandage, and she said "when you bathe". I said "today?", and she seemed surprised. She clarified I should wait 3-4 days, as if it was something I should've known by that point. I replied that the surgeon never explained any of that to me, and we both saw that this wasn't indicated anywhere in the printed post-op instructions I had gotten. Had I not asked her this, I would've removed the bandage too soon and complicated recovery! There are more details like these, which I won't spend time on here. I feel it's a shame and a disgrace that these people charge money for such lackluster service. This isn't a public hospital; it's a business, and we're paying customers. If you're not able to provide the service we're paying for, you should not be in business.
Scheduled an appointment because I had serious ear issues. The doctor looked in my ears, asked me the same questions already on the admission form, and told me to see my general practitioner if the issue didn't go away. He didn't schedule an MR for me and check anything else. I feel completely robbed and upset, considering the bill is over 2000 nok. Never again! Everything he said I already knew from basic research, which is why I saw a specialist in the first place. I want money back!
Absolutely terrible medical services and follow-up customer services. They don't care about you, your pain, and your complications. They just want to get rid of you. Completely inefficient system. They refer you to many people over the phone and make you wait and at the end, they don't provide you with the service you need. They destroyed my septum after a septoplasty and ignored my 10 calls for help in the next two weeks after the operation. They said over the call that it's okay. Just rest and it will be fine. As a result, I have serious problems with my nose and will need a second surgery to fix it. Their system is an example of "outdated European healthcare system" which fails in every aspect. No good pre-operation check-up (blood or urine test), no good operation services (they discharge you on the same day, while in other countries they keep you there under supervision for 24 hours), and absolutely terrible post-operation follow-up services (no post-operation visit to check if surgery worked). They just ignore your problems, needs and desperate calls for "help". This "medical center" doesn't provide any "medical help" after operation. They just want to get rid of you. Their call system sees you as annoyance, not as a human being. Completely failed. In sum, this clinic is terrible and need a serious consideration for structural changes. Don't use their services and avoid them altogether.
I had a corrective septoplasty for a deviated septum yesterday with Dr Ann-Katrin Sophie Skeftruna - she was absolutely brilliant as were the rest of the team. I felt very comforted, put at ease and well prepared for what to expect in the coming days. I also feel no pain in my nose today at all, what a bonus!
